Mexico added defenders Hector Reynoso of Chivas, Paul Aguilar of America and Hiram Mier of Monterrey to its Gold Cup roster Monday after it was permitted to replace players it provisionally suspended for positive doping tests.
Chivas goalkeeper Luis Mitchel and teammate Marco Fabian also will be available to Mexico coach Jose Manuel de la Torre if needed, the Mexican Football Federation said on its website after the Gold Cup Organizing Committee granted the FMF's request to replace five players.
Mexico has played its last four matches with 17 players on its roster after Guillermo Ochoa, Francisco Rodriguez, Antonio Naelson "Sinha," Edgar Dueñas and Christian Bermudez were suspended. The FMF took the action after they tested for clenbuterol, a drug used to treat breathing disorders, during the team's Mexico training camp in Mexico prior to the Gold Cup.
