The Canucks can still grab a stranglehold on this series despite dropping Game 3. The Sharks' power play has been virtually unstoppable in the series, scoring 6 times in 13 chances. The Canucks will likely be without two defensemen in Game 4 -- top blueliner Christian Ehrhoff and Aaron Rome.

For the most part, Game 3 was a special teams disaster for the Canucks.
The Canucks gave the Sharks 10 chances on the power play and allowed three goals. The Canucks squandered a pair of 5-on-3 power-play chances during the second period, but they scored twice during a five-minute power play late in the third period to make things interesting.

Sharks wanted to treat Game 3 like a Game 7, because a 3-0 hole would've been too much to overcome. It worked, as the Sharks played with urgency from the start to pull themselves back into the series.

The great start was necessary, as McGinn's penalty late in the game turned a three-goal cakewalk into a one-goal nail-biter. It was the Sharks' eighth win of the postseason by just one goal – three in regulation and five in OT.

Despite the good feelings coming off the victory, players said Friday they need to be better at 5-on-5. The Sharks have just two even-strength goals in the series, and they had more power-play shots (19) than even-strength shots (18) in Game 4.

Which team will be able to do a better job of limiting offense after a free-wheeling, highly entertaining Game 2 in Boston?

Offense was not a problem in Game 2 for the Lightning either as they scored five times on the likely Vezina Trophy winner. The high number of breakdowns defensively is the big concern. The Bruins needed only nine shots on goal in the second period of Game 2 to score five goals, and two of the four that didn't go in led to rebounds that did. Was it an aberration, a one-game slip up, or has Boston figured out the secrets to besting Tampa Bay's often frustrating system to play against?

Boston found ways around and through Tampa Bay's 1-3-1 system in Game 2. A big key was keeping the Lightning pinned in their own end by creating turnovers and not letting them make line changes or set up in the neutral zone.The other was Tyler Seguin -- for the second straight game he blitzed through the Tampa Bay defense for a breakaway goal. He continued his magic and played a part in four of the five goals Boston scored in the second period.

San Jose is back in the Western Conference Finals for the second straight season and third time in its history, but is looking for its first-ever win in this round. The Sharks were swept by the Chicago Blackhawks last season and lost to Calgary in six games in 2004. Vancouver is back in the conference finals for the second time ever and the first since 1994, when it reached the Stanley Cup Final before losing to the Rangers. The Canucks and Sharks have never met in the playoffs.

Canucks -- Ryan Kesler's virtuoso performance against the Nashville Predators in the conference semis is a large reason the Canucks are here. Kesler was a one-man wrecking crew in the six-game series with the Predators as he was in on 11 of the 14 goals Vancouver scored, netting five of them and assisting on six. He also won 59 percent of his faceoffs, had 24 shots on goal, 16 hits and 12 takeaways. Two of Kesler's goals were game-winners, including one in overtime.
Kesler, though, was not the only star for the Canucks. Roberto Luongo had a 1.63 GAA and .933 save percentage against the Predators. He has won five of seven starts and given up only 12 goals since he was relegated to backup duty in Game 6 against the Blackhawks.

Sharks -- They got here after blowing a 3-0 series lead to Detroit in the Conference Semifinals only to win Game 7 thanks to 38 saves by goalie Antti Niemi and the winning goal off of Patrick Marleau's stick. Marleau didn't record a point through the first six games and two periods against the Red Wings, but his goal 12:13 into the third period was the difference in Game 7.
